Marauders climb to 11th in recent IBCA rankings 

The Mt. Vernon girls basketball team hasn’t lost since Nov. 9, and it shows in the latest Indiana Basketball Coaches Associations Weekly Top 20 rankings.

The Marauders have moved up to 11th overall after winning 13 straight games prior to their 14th consecutive game over Mooresville 44-38 on Tuesday.

Bowling fundraiser set at Strike Force Lanes

Registration is now open for the 12th Annual Strike a Difference for FUSE Bowl-a-thon. The year’s event will be held on Feb. 8 at Strike Force Lanes in Greenfield.

Bowling will start at 5 p.m. with check-in at 4 p.m. Door prizes will be given away during the event. Teams of five bowlers can participate, and individuals are also invited to compete.

All bowlers are challenged to raise a minimum of $100 per person in sponsorship or $500 per team with a special prize for the top individual fundraiser.

Sponsors are also welcomed to contribute to the event with anything from door prizes to lane sponsorship of $100 or more.

EH Hall of Fame nominations open

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters are seeking nominations for the 2020 class of the Eastern Hancock Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of former athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and other contributors to the athletic programs at Eastern Hancock, Charlottesville, Westland and Wilkinson High Schools.

To be eligible, an athlete must be seven years removed from competition, coaches five years, and teams 10 years.

Nominations are due to the EH athletic director’s office by Dec. 23. The 2020 Hall of Fame class will be recognized at halftime of the EH-Shenandoah boys varsity basketball game on Jan. 25, 2020.
