SHIRLEY

Margrette Marie (Ogles) Austin, 91, of Shirley, passed from this earthly life to a Heavenly life of eternal peace and rest at her home on Thursday, December 12, 2019. She was born July 26, 1928 in Albertville, Alabama to the late Samuel Taft and Euphuimie (Sims) Ogles.

The eldest of five daughters, she was raised on a cotton farm until the age of eighteen when she met William Thomas Austin of Albertville, Alabama where upon they eloped and were married on August 10, 1946 in Guntersville, Alabama. Together they raised five children.

She attended Shirley Gospel Mission for thirty-four years until failing health prevented her from doing so.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed having a garden and planting flowers and watching them grow. She enjoyed watching the birds and butterflies that the flowers would attract. She also enjoyed quilting through the years and teaching Sunday School.

She was a homemaker and spent the years making the house a home for her family.

She was preceded in death by her late husband of 39 years, William T. (Tom) Austin in October 1985; parents, Samuel T. and Euphuimie (Sims) Ogles; three sisters, Lois Bailey and Sammie Lang of Albertville, Alabama and Gwen Smith of Boaz, Alabama.

Surviving are her children, Tom Austin (Pam) of Greenfield, Phylis Martin (Norman) of Noblesville, Lynn Austin (Julie) of Fortville, Kyle Austin (Kim) and Eric Austin both of Shirley; three granddaughters and six grandsons; sixteen great grandchildren and awaiting the arrival of a new great granddaughter in March; one sister, Laquitta Simpson of Avon Park, Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 17, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Rev. Charles Riggs officiating. Burial will be in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
