MCCORDSVILLE — Police are searching for a McCordsville man in connection with a shooting late Monday afternoon in which a woman was wounded in the foot.

Police are on the lookout for Jaden Robinson, 19. Investigators are calling the shooting a domestic violence incident.

Police were still looking for Robinson late Tuesday, they said. “We believe this was an isolated domestic violence incident and don’t think he’s a threat to the general community,” said Detective Aaron Watts of the McCordsville Police Department.

Still, because of the circumstances, police consider the suspect to be armed and dangerous.

Police were called to a home in the 8600 block of North Crestview Trail, McCordsville, around 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, with reports of shots being fired. A person who called 911 said they had seen a female leave the scene in a vehicle shortly after they heard the sounds of shots.

When law enforcement officers arrived, they were unable to locate the female or any evidence that a crime had been committed, police said. Dispatch reports show Robinson was at the scene of the shooting when officers first arrived. However, police did not find any shell casings and were told by Robinson that no shots had been fired at the address as the caller had indicated.

The report also indicated Robinson was largely uncooperative. After investigating the scene, police left.

Several hours later, McCordsville police were notified by officials from Marion County that a victim with a gunshot wound had sought treatment at Eskenazi Hospital. That’s when police were able to put the details of the shooting together and connect it back to the address in McCordsville.

The victim was identified as having a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the foot, police said. Officials also discovered the victim was the same person who had left the McCordsville home earlier in the day, officials said.

Watts talked to victim on Monday and planned to interview her again on Tuesday. She told police she had been involved in an argument with her child’s father, Robinson, and that she was shot when the argument escalated.

Police obtained a search warrant for the address later Monday and went back to the scene, but they were unable to locate Robinson.

An arrest warrant was sent to officials in the Hancock County prosecutor’s office for Robinson. Prosecutor Brent Eaton said the case is under review and no official charges have been identified yet.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Robinson is asked to call officials the McCordsville Police Department at 317-477-4400.
