GREENFIELD — New Palestine Junior High School will receive $491 to support its photography programs, thanks to the photography of eighth-grader Carter Willey.
Carter received the Hollenbaugh Award for youth photography Sunday at the Riley Festival’s photo exhibit. The award was established to honor the memory of Phillip Hollenbaugh, a professional photographer and lifelong Hancock County resident, and to encourage students to take up photography as a hobby.
The winner receives a certificate, and his or her school receives a grant from the Phillip R. Hollenbaugh Memorial Fund.
Entries for the Hollenbaugh Award each year must follow a theme. Carter’s photograph showcased the theme “blue” with a shot of the blue sky reflected in the waters of Lake Michigan near South Haven.
