GREENFIELD — A Greenfield music artist is hosting a launch party for his latest album at the Ricks Centre for the Arts this month.

Joe Shelton’s newest release — “Somethin’ Just Ain’t Right” — is his fourth studio album.

The lead single “Runaway” is now streaming on platforms worldwide.

Shelton and his full band, Joe Shelton and Breakfast for Dinner, will be playing most of the record’s 12 tracks at the May 18 launch party.

“We will also have some of my friends and fellow songwriters opening the show with a few songs of their own,” said Shelton, who will be joined by Anna Owens, Ray Hoskins, Rogers Lee and The Uptown Sound.

A software engineer by trade, Shelton tapped into his musical side to create the National Road Music Series last year, with the goal of bringing original music artists to Hancock County to foster a local culture of creativity and entertainment.

The series hosted multiple shows at the Ricks Centre last year.

Shelton said dates for this fall’s portion of the series won’t be announced until this summer, but that the are Sept. 21, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 6.

The longtime musician said he loves providing a showcase for local talent.

As for his own brand of country/rock Americana, Shelton says he pours his “heart and soul” into every song.

His 2018 studio album,” The Americana Diaries,” scored him a nomination for 2018 Album of the Year and Best Vocalist in NUVO. The following year he released “City of Trains,” which Shelton said has over five million streams and landed him a nomination for Best Musical Artist by the Indianapolis Star.

Prior to the onset of the COVID pandemic in 2020, Shelton was touring and performing over 200 nights per year.

Shelton said he loves to write songs that evoke the love of family, the heartbreak of loss and catapult listeners into a world of heartfelt emotions.

He looks forward to performing his latest work later this month at the Ricks Centre, which sits at 122 W. Main St. on the Old National Road.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The show starts at 7 p.m.
