Girls soccer

Cougars get shutout win

Greenfield-Central rolled to a home win Monday against visiting Greenwood, 4-0.

Kelsi McLaughlin and Anne Marie DeKeyser each scored twice for the Cougars, who improved to 7-2 on the year with the win. Greenfield-Central will host county rival New Palestine tonight at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.

Marauders fall at Fishers

Mt. Vernon took to the road Monday, falling to host Fishers, 2-0.

The Marauders are now 8-3 on the year. They play next Thursday at home against Hamilton Southeastern.

Volleyball

Royals get another win

Eastern Hancock hosted Randolph Southern on Monday, picking up a 3-0 win at home, 25-10, 25-10, 25-7.

The Royals improved to 6-13 on the year and 2-4 in Mid-Eastern Conference play with the win. They host Southwestern on Thursday.

Boys tennis

Dragons drop Arabians

New Palestine improved to 4-1 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference on Monday with a 4-1 victory at Pendleton Heights.

The Dragons swept the singles in straight sets, with Ben Blachly winning 6-0, 6-1. Colin Darley won 6-0, 6-3. Zach Au posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory. At doubles, Jeremy Wagoner/Clayton Wesley won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

The Dragons are back in action today at New Castle.

Bears best Cougars

Greenfield-Central had a close match against Shelbyville on Monday, eventually falling 3-2.

Robbie Dye earned the first point of the night at No. 1 singles, beating his opponent 6-1, 6-0. Shelbyville earned the next two points from the doubles positions. Carson Gibson got a win at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3 for the final Cougars point.

Royals get past Frankton

Eastern Hancock topped Frankton for the first time in years on Monday, 4-1.

Kodey Huff picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Nolan Stout won 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2 singles. Brady Smith and Sammy Blocher won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Zeke Dixon and Bryce Wennen won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The Royals are now 5-2 on the year. They play today at Blue River Valley.

Girls golf

Dragons swing past Arabians

New Palestine golf team continued its winning ways Monday, beating Pendleton Heights 178-197 at The Links.

Annaliese Fox shot 35, one under par. Izzy Gray added a 43 and Megan Diller 48. Michaela and Rachel Purnell both shot 52.

Cougars top Marauders, Warriors

Greenfield-Central picked up another pair of wins Monday to move their season record to 15-1, shooting a 179 to top Mt. Vernon’s 186 and Warren Central’s 200.

Caroline Gibson shot a 39 and Haley Hoagland ties a season best with a 41 for the Cougars. Katie Curry had a 49 and Abby Mulligan shot a career best 50.

Royals get back on track

Eastern Hancock got back to winning on Monday, shooting a 205 and winning by forfeit against Oldenburg Academy.

Jocelyn Duncan was medalist with a 47. Haleigh Cavaletto was right behind with a 48. Shelby Jackson shot a 51, Daly Pelger had a 59 and Inez Friddle had a 60 for the Royals.
