Staff reports

INDIANAPOLIS — Drivers should be prepared for another weekend of road closures on interstates in the metro area.

Several areas — most of them along Interstate 465 on the east side of Indianapolis — will face lane restrictions or closures as workers make repairs, the Indiana Department of Transportation said in a news release. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and find alternate routes. In addition, they are reminded to pay attention, drive distraction-free and slow down in work zones. Indiana State Police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will be patrolling work zones and ticketing drivers for speeding, reckless driving and driving distracted.

Here is a look at the work that will take place:

All lanes will be closed on I-465 east/north from Interstate 65 to Interstate 70 on the southeast and east sides of Indianapolis. The closure will last through Aug. 24.

All lanes will be closed on northbound/westbound I-465 from 56th Street/Shadeland Avenue to Fall Creek. Northbound traffic will be diverted onto the Shadeland Avenue connector. The restrictions run through 6 a.m. Monday.

The left two lanes will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday on southbound/eastbound I-465 from Fall Creek south to the I-70 interchange on the east side

The 116th Street collector lanes on southbound Interstate 69 will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday

Lane restrictions also will be in place on I-465 on the west side; I-65 on the northwest side; and the Interstate 865 connector on the northwest side

Construction work is weather-dependent in some cases, INDOT said. Updates will be posted to an INDOT Twitter feed: @INDOTEast.
