Marauders fall in season opener
The Mt. Vernon girls golf team opened the 2019 fall season on Tuesday against Pendleton Heights, falling to the Arabians, 173 to 199.
The Marauders were led by medalist Alaina Nugent, who shot a 40. Meredith Johnson was second overall with a 42 for Mt. Vernon.

Cougars cheerleaders hosting annual clinic
The Greenfield-Central cheerleaders are set to host their annual clinic on Aug. 30, with a performance scheduled during the varsity football game that night against Whiteland.
The clinic is for students from kindergarten through sixth grade, and will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the main gym at Greenfield-Central. The cost is $30 and includes a shirt and bow.
Participants who wear their clinic shirts will get in free to the football game that night. Additional guests can use sports passes or pay for their tickets at the gate.

Basketball program sets golf outing
The Greenfield-Central Youth Boys Basketball club is hosting a golf outing Sunday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. at Arrowhead Golf Course and is looking for more golfers.
Anyone interested in playing in the golf event should contact GCYBB member Josh Johnson at 765-265-4954 or email him at [email protected]. The cost is $70 per person or $280 for a team. Food will be provided by BBQ’n Fools.
