FORTVILLE — A downtown Fortville restaurant raised nearly $6,000 for the town’s police department last month.

FoxGardin Kitchen and Ale cut a check to the Fortville Police Department for $5,919 from the funds it raised at its fourth anniversary celebration. The establishment contributed funds through beer and wine sales from liquor representatives’ donations, donated silent auction items, raffle prizes, FPD sticker sales and donations from attendees.

Fortville Police Chief Bill Knauer said the contribution will go a long way in the department’s small budget.

FoxGardin chooses a different cause to donate to for each of its anniversaries. Past recipients are Warrior Expeditions, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Kammy’s Kause.
