GREENFIELD — The new dueling slides at the city’s pool are open for business.

Two weeks after the revamped Riley Park Pool opened in Greenfield, visitors had a chance on Friday to glide down the facility’s two 20-foot water slides, according to Greenfield Parks and Recreation officials.

People at least 48 inches tall can ride the multi-colored slides, which empty out into 8 inches of water in an end basin, the pool manager commented on the department’s Facebook page.

Ellen Kuker, parks superintendent, said the pool’s ribbon cutting ceremony is tentatively scheduled for noon on Wednesday, June 26. Kids over the past few weeks have been able to help name the two slides. At the ribbon cutting, the slide name winners will get prizes and then can ride down the slides.

The pool is open daily from noon to 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children, seniors and members of the military.

The Riley Splash Pad located next to the pool is open each day from dawn until dusk, Kuker said.
