GREENFIELD — The man who kept police at bay for more than 12 hours after barricading himself inside a barn on the east side of Greenfield has surrendered without incident.

The suspect emerged overnight after locking himself inside the building on Jaycie Phelps Road around noon on Saturday. Police had tried to persuade him to surrender and eventually resorted to tear gas, but the suspect remained inside. At one point, shots were fired from inside the barn, police said, forcing officers to scatter to safety.

No officers were injured.

Further details, including the suspect’s identity, weren’t immediately available. The Daily Reporter’s Kristy Deer is reporting on the details, and this story will be updated.
