SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Turman “Zach” Barnett, a native of Greenfield, has been frocked to the senior officer rank of commander.
Barnett serves in the U.S. Transportation Command Reserve Unit, which provides support to the military, defense agencies and other government organizations.
“Frocking” dates to the days of sail in maritime services, and is the practice of ceremonially pinning on the rank for which the officer has been selected.
Barnett currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and his family and parents reside in Greenfield, Indiana.
