Ricks-Weil Company part of Abraham Lincoln tribute
SHELBYVILLE — The Ricks-Weil Theatre Company will present a one-act play, “The Day Lincoln Died” at 7 p.m. April 4 and 5 at the Strand Theater, 215 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. The one-act is part of “An Evening with Lincoln” presented by the Strand Theater. The first part of the evening will be an interview with President Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by actor Danny Russel. Mr. Lincoln will answer questions surrounding events in his time and relate current events to decisions he made more than 150 years ago. The second half will be “The Day Lincoln Died,” a one-act that which follows a Civil War soldier as he returns from battle to his home state of Maine. ‘Singing in the Rain’
INDIANAPOLIS — Footlite Musicals presents “Singing in the Rain” through March 17 at the Hedback Theater, 1847 Alabama St. Silent film star Don Lockwood barely tolerates his vapid co-star, Lina Lamont, who is convinced their on-screen romance is real. As the first talking pictures appear in theaters, the studio head decides to convert the duo’s film into a talkie. The production is beset with difficulties, the worst being Lina’s comically grating voice. Don’s friend, Cosmo Brown, comes up with the idea to overdub Lina’s voice with Don’s love interest, aspiring actress Kathy Selden. Lina finds out and does everything possible to sabotage the romance.
