GREENFIELD

Gary Wayne Mason, age 77, of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. He was born in Fort Branch, Indiana on January 11, 1942 to Billie and Anna (Tooley) Mason. He served in the U.S. Army working on tanks, stationed in post war Korea. On January 17, 1998 he married Sue (Leisure) in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.

He worked as machine repairman for Allison Transmission and Ford for many years before retiring. He owned his own business, J&W Machine Repair, for many years in Mooresville, Greenwood, and Martinsville. Gary was a member of UAW Local 933 and UAW Local 1111. He loved cars, collecting, fixing, and racing them. He also liked to tell jokes and spend time at the casino.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sue Mason of Greenfield; children, Scott (Carolyn) Mason of Bentonville, AR, Angela (Randall) Park of Westfield, and Jennifer (Doug) Brinker of Greenwood; step-children, Terri (Gary) Driesbach of Greenfield and Mike Davis of Carthage; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany, Lauren, Annie, Jack, Mary, Brittany, Katie, Jarrod, Caleb, and Grant; great-granddaughter, Briar; siblings, Fred (Wilma) Mason of Evansville, Mark Mason of Greenwood, and Stan Mason of Greenwood; and baby girl Gypsy, his walker coonhound. He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Elzie “Gene” Mason, Barbara Cramer, Phillip Mason, Joe Mason, and Donnie Mason; and step-son, Larry Davis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home, 425 N. Main Street, Princeton, IN 47670. Burial will follow at Decker Cemetery in Patoka, IN.
