Some area museums are free Monday

INDIANAPOLIS — Many Indianapolis-area museums offer free admission on Monday for Presidents Day. At the Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St., visitors can enter President John F. Kennedy’s space race by building and launching their own rockets, test their knowledge of the vice presidents, take their turn at the podium to deliver a memorable presidential speech or help Benjamin Harrison — the first president to have electric lights in the White House — learn how electricity works by building a circuit. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit indianamuseum.org.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, 3000 N. Meridian St., will also offer free admission on Monday so children can participate in presidential crafts and creations, such as putting their face on a $1,000,000 bill using Photoshop®, presidential games throughout the museum and an opportunity to celebrate the 210th birthday and life of the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.
