Hearty souls needed for polar plunge

GREENFIELD — Who is willing to take the plunge into a dumpster of ice-cold water for a good cause? The Greenfield Elks Lodge and the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen are looking for hearty souls willing to participate in the Arctic Dumpster Dive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Greenfield Elks Lodge, 820 S. State St. The $20 donation to participate includes a free lunch and hot chocolate. For a $50 donation, jumpers will receive a free beach towel. For more information or to sign up, visit kbmsk.org.

Genealogy interest group to meet

GREENFIELD — Research your ancestors in the Hancock County Public Library computer lab, 900 W. McKenzie Road, with other genealogy enthusiasts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Attendees can discuss strategies for finding specialized information or get help using the library’s free access to Ancestry.com, HeritageQuest, or FamilySearch databases. Macrame is back

FORTVILLE — If you wait long enough, fads and fashions circle back around. This time, it’s macramé. You can revisit this craft from the 70s by making a macramé flower pot holder at 1 p.m. Saturday at At Home With Us – Indiana, 202 S.
