GREENFIELD — Keely Butrum, District 3 representative on the Greenfield City Council, announced Thursday she plans to run for county council next year.

"I absolutely love serving on the Greenfield City Council, but I will not be running for re-election for the next term," Butrum wrote on her personal Facebook page.

Butrum, who will have served three years on the council at the end of the year, plans to run for a Hancock County Council at-large seat in 2020. The county has three at-large spots on the council.

In 2016, Butrum, a Republican, was appointed by a Hancock County GOP caucus and officially started as a councilwoman in 2017, replacing John Patton, who died in late 2016 of an illness.

George Plisinski II filed for the District 3 seat, according to the county election office.

The final day to file as a Republican or Democrat in the May primary is Feb. 8.
