LAGRANGE, IN
Larry H. Brooks, 78, of LaGrange, IN died Friday, December 21, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor. Larry was born on July 22, 1940 in Hancock County, IN to Herman and Maxine (Carwein) Brooks. Living in LaGrange County since 2002, he moved to the area from Hancock County, IN. He was a member of the both the First Church of God of LaGrange and the LaGrange American Legion Post #215. Larry worked for many years as a carpenter in commercial construction, retiring from the Eli Lilly & Company in Greenfield, IN and also served with the Indiana National Guard. On April 29, 1962 in Shelbyville, IN he married Bonita Sue “Bonnie” Sutton; Bonnie survives in LaGrange. Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Bruce Bateman of Howe, IN; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Cheryl Brooks of Greenfield, IN; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brett and Melissa Bateman of Howe, IN, Brittney and Nick Wilson of Shipshewana, IN, Brock and Madison Bateman of Burleson, TX, LaDonna Brooks of Greenfield, IN, and Kristen and Casey Flood of Wilkinson, IN; eight great-grandchildren, Dylan and Bailey Bateman, Reagan, Brylee, and Theo Wilson, Corbin Bateman, and Allie and Josiah Flood. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard D. Brooks. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the First Church of God, 777 N. Detroit St., LaGrange, IN. Visitation will be held at the church from 2-4 pm prior to the service. Memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
