GREENFIELD
John W. Munden, Jr., age 71, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born in Greenfield on March 6, 1947 to John W. and Cora Elizabeth (Johnson) Munden.
He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1965.
John retired in 1988 as a captain from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office after 13 years. Following his retirement from the Sheriff’s Office, he operated and owned Eagle Machine for many years. He liked watching the Colts, Yankees, and Fox News. He also enjoyed playing the Hoosier Lotto. John loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
John is survived by his children, John W. (Lindsey) Munden III of Bloomington, Donnie (Rita) Munden of Greenfield, Joe (Tonia) Munden of Greenfield, Brenda (Brandon) Garrigus of Greenfield, and Ted (Kelly) Munden of Greenfield; 11 grandchildren, Maddy, Jack, Matthew, Meagan, Evan, Brittany, Brooke, Brayla, Emma, Andrew, and Ali; 5 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Gentory, Duke, Kamdon “Little Man”, and Olivia; and three sisters, Mary Jane (Ron) Lee of Avon, Penny Hunter of Huntingburg, IN, and Vicky (William) Thiery of Greenfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Munden; brother, Donnie; and sisters, Sharon, Connie, Margaret, Peggy, and Jackie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A private committal service will take place at a later date at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
