Spegal named 2nd Team All-American
New Palestine junior running back Charlie Spegal received another postseason honor Tuesday, as he was named Second Team All-American by USA Today.
Spegal adds the All-American honor to a growing list that includes Hancock County Player of the Year, All-Hoosier Heritage Conference, and Top 50 All-State. He rushed for 3,356 yards and scored a combined 70 touchdowns this year in helping the Dragons win a Class 5A state championship.

Dragons coach selected for honor
New Palestine girls basketball coach Sarah Gizzi has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2019 girls basketball Silver Anniversary Team, the first New Palestine player to be selected for the team.
The Silver Anniversary Team is chosen annually by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, honoring the top players in the state 25 years after their graduation from high school. Gizzi is one of 17 players from the Class of 1994 being honored by the hall.
Gizzi will be honored Saturday, April 27 at the Hall of Fame’s annual women’s basketball awards banquet, which will be conducted at Primo Banquet Hall on the south side of Indianapolis. Tickets may be reserved at HoopsHall.com.
