Christmas tree lighting rescheduled for Sunday

GREENFIELD — Santa Claus will throw the switch on the city’s Christmas tree after all.

The ceremonial tree-lighting has been scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Sunday after officials called off the annual holiday festival and Parade of Lights on Saturday because of the weather.

Sunday’s event won’t include a parade, but Santa will be escorted down Main Street to the courthouse plaza for the lighting ceremony, Matt Holland of the Greenfield Police Department wrote in an email update Saturday evening.
