Why are you running for office?

I believe that the knowledge I have gained as a legal assistant of 25 years directly translates to the office of clerk. I prepare and file the same documents the clerk processes as a part of my everyday duties in my current employment. I have a desire to serve the county and our community by applying my experience from the private side to the clerk/court side in an effort to enhance the efficiency of the office. The office of clerk is a large responsibility. I am qualified, dedicated and reliable, and I possess the energy to become your next Clerk of the Circuit Court.

What do you think are the most pressing issues facing the county clerk’s office?

The clerk is not only the record keeper for the courts but oversees the county’s election office. Staying current with voting equipment and proper training for poll workers, together with security protocol for transporting ballots are some of the duties I will review with staff. I will also review with staff the Indiana Election Division rules and the laws governing elections to determine any areas for improvement. On the court side, I bring a fresh perspective to the office that will enable us to review the processing of court filings to determine if we can move those documents through the e-filing system in a more efficient and effective way.

What are your top three goals if elected to the position?

To maintain the chronological case summary accurately for each case.

To work with judges to establish specific guidelines regarding the processing of the documents maintained by the clerk and the courts.

To be sure we are adequately utilizing the software relative to all functions of the clerk, including the election office, and to make changes or address training issues as needed.
