GREENFIELD
Margaret Delores (Hill) Sargent, 97, of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born on August 13, 1921, in Hancock County as the daughter of Calvin Harold and Ida Bessie (Gebhart) Hill. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1939. Margaret married Marion Albert Sargent on August 10, 1940, in Hancock County and had been married for over 58 years.
She worked for Indiana Rayon in Greenfield for many years before retiring in 1946. She was also a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. Margaret was a member of the Home Circle Club and Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, reading, and cross word puzzles.
Margaret is survived by her son Terry Lynn Sargent of Greenfield; daughter, Nancy Sue (William) Leach of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Heather S. (Gary) Johnson and J. Christopher (Ann) Leach; three great-grandchildren, Blake E. Johnson, Meredith B. Johnson, and Rose A. Leach; three nieces; four nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ida Hill; husband, Marion A. Sargent; brothers, David L. Hill and C. Harold Hill, Jr.; and sister, Patty L. Hill.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Park Cemetery, 621 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Fred Powers will be officiating.
