GREENFIELD — The Upsilon chapter of Psi Iota Xi will host its first-ever Lip Sync War on Saturday, October 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts.

Local celebrities will go head-to-head in a bracket-style tournament structure lip syncing songs of their choice to a recorded audio track. The winner will earn the opportunity to name a nonprofit organization to receive a $500 award, courtesy of sponsor Hancock Health. A panel of three judges will decide which performers move on to the next round based on a set of criteria that includes lip sync ability, appearance, stage presence, overall creativity, crowd appeal, and audience response.

Performers will include Wayne Addison, Mayor Chuck Fewell, Det. Sgt. Bridget Foy, Judge Scott Sirk, David Spencer, and the Greenfield Police Department. Emcees Kara Harrison and Amber Sermersheim will host the event. Raffles, beer and wine sales, and snack sales will be available for cash purchase (licensed by the State of Indiana).

The event is a fundraiser for Psi Iota Xi’s newly-created endowment fund through the Hancock County Community Foundation. Once fully-funded and generating a significant payout, the Psi Iota Xi — Upsilon Chapter Operating Endowment Fund will help support the sorority’s work in the area of speech and hearing, including an annual speech and hearing clinic open to Hancock County elementary school students in the summer.

General admission tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. VIP tickets are $25 and include early entry, premium seating, and one drink ticket. Tickets are on-sale now at www.Eventbrite.com. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for general admission and 5:45 p.m. for VIP.

Sponsors for the event at Hancock Health, Greenfield Banking Company, and Joyner Homes.
