George (“Dick”) Richard Ahrendts, 83, of New Palestine, IN, has shed his earthly body on August 29, 2018, grabbed his wings, and is now luxuriating in Paradise. Hallelujah. Dick was born January 31, 1935, in Steubenville, OH, to George Ahrendts and Cecilia (Kozdras) Ahrendts. He graduated from and played on the Allstate Football Team at Weirton High School in Weirton, West Virginia. Following his high school education, he came to Indiana to attend Butler University on a football scholarship, where he met his beautiful wife, Jean Anne (Sommer) Ahrendts, and they have been happily married for 63 years. He later started and owned his own business, ASI Window Company, and was a successful business man for over 40 years until the time of his retirement. He was a member and past president of the Maple Creek Country Club since 1963, as well as a proud member and past president of Mercator Business Men’s Club.

Dick was also known for being an avid golfer and sports fan, finding much joy in watching Butler basketball games. He loved watching his grandchildren play and compete in sports. Dick had a rousing sense of humor, and dearly loved his family, his friends, and his country. He was a giant of a man intellectually and personally. He imparted daily wisdom, which is still cherished to this day by all who knew him. He will be missed as much as he always thought he would be.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his daughter, Kimber Ahrendts; daughter, Carrie (Mark) Ryan; daughter, Angela (Gregg) Couch; son, George “Rick” (Stacie) Ahrendts; daughter, Amanda (Mackey) Toole; daughter, Amy (Phil) Montefalco; grandchildren, Chris, Cole, Carly, Cassie, Chandie, Jennings, Sommer, Angelina, Jessica, George, Perry, Taylor, Elliott, Addison, Alexandria, Zane, Schuyler, Haven, and Bella; as well as five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Dominic, Lilah, Darren, and Amelia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his grandson, Patrick “PT” Hasse. Funeral services for Dick will be held Sunday, September 2, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. at Hendryx Mortuary, 11636 East Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Burial will follow in New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, IN.
