Harold R. “Hal” Hall

YUMA, ARIZONA

Harold R. (Hal) Hall, 83, died in Yuma, Arizona, July 26, 2018. Hal was born Nov. 5, 1934, to Marguerite and Leslie Hall in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. When Hal was 3, the family moved to Wyoming.

Hal attended Sheridan High School and Sheridan Jr. College before graduating from the University of Wyoming. He then was employed by Washington State University where he met his future wife, Pat (Smith) Hall, at a square-dancing club. Halsie and Patilu were married in 1958.

The two lived in Pullman, Washington, and Greenfield, Indiana – where he worked as a plant pathologist at Eli Lilly. Hal was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and Sertoma Club and was also very active at Greenfield Country Club. The couple had two sons – Craig and Chris.

Upon Hal’s retirement in 1989, the two moved to Bozeman, Montana, where they traveled to see family in Montana and Wyoming. This led to a new lifestyle of RVing and eventually becoming snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona, for the past 24 years.

Hal loved beating his family in vicious games of euchre and cribbage whenever he could. And while his singing voice wasn’t the best, Hal enjoyed serenading family with classics.

Hal was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers Lloyd, Don and Wayne. He is survived by his wife Pat; son Craig Sherman Hall, of Indianapolis, Indiana; son Chris Hall (Dawn) and two granddaughters Shannon and Shelby Hall, of Crawfordsville, Indiana; brother Robert (Barbara) Hall of Sheridan, Wyoming; and brother-in-law S. John Smith and sister-in-law, Barbara Hall, of Townsend, Montana.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bozeman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 1150, Bozeman, MT 59771 or a charity of your choice.
