Michael “Mike” Helm, age 58, passed away on July 15, 2018 in California. Mike was born on May 6, 1960 in Greenfield, Indiana to Marshall Ray Helm and Carol (Miller) King. Mike was raised in Forest, Indiana and attended Clinton Central High School. Following high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for over ten years as an ammunition specialist. His primary duty stations included Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and Mather Air Force Base in California. Following his military service, Mike worked various jobs which included helping with the street department and landscaping. While Mike was growing up, he attended the Baptist Church in Forest, Indiana. He always enjoyed socializing with his friends and was also an animal lover. Mike also enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. Mike is survived by his parents, Marshall (Beverly) Helm and Carol (Robert) King; son, Nicholas Helm; daughters, Angela (Raymond) Helm-Galm and Candace Helm; brothers, Rodney Max (Julie) King, David W Helm, and Carl Ray (Cathy) Helm; sisters, Mary (Ed) DeHart and Tamy (David) Ralstin; grandchildren, Elijah Wells, Dylan Wooton, and Brett Wooton; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a public visitation for Mike at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Friday, August 3rd from 11-1, with a memorial service immediately following. Memorial contributions in Mike’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
