Jimmy “Jim” Barton Garmon, 74, Fortville died Monday July 23, 2018, at St. Vincent Regional Hospital, Anderson. He was the son of Fulton and Gertie Mae (Binnion) Garmon and was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Scottsville, KY. He married Elizabeth Biltz on Aug. 3, 1963, and they were married for 19 years and have three daughters. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Tipton High School. He ran cross country and track.

He worked for Jim Dandy Family Restaurant for more than 50 years. Although he worked at all nine Jim Dandy stores during his career, he spent most of his career at the Tipton and Greenfield, the first and last stores he managed. Although a self-proclaimed workaholic, he did enjoy fishing, boating, water skiing, playing cards and watching and attending sporting events in his down time. He was quiet but easy going with a smile that would light up his face. He enjoyed working in the public and was great with people, especially children. He showed amazing strength, courage and dignity, especially over the last 30-plus months. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren and with his best friend, Brenda.

He is survived by his daughters Michelle Garmon, Tipton; Cynthia (Clee) Maddox, Tipton; Suzanne (David) Griffin, Kentucky; grandchildren Zach (Jessica) Maddox, Illinois; Logan and MiLea Maddox, Tipton; Abigail and Anthony Griffin, Kentucky; greatgrandchildren Annistyn and Emersyn Maddox, Illinois; his best friend Brenda Baird; two sisters Doris Harper and Dee (Joe) VanBibber, Tipton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arcy Garmon.
