Event set to support D.A.R.E., soccer club

A 5K run-walk event has been set to support the Hancock County D.A.R.E. program and the Greenfield Area Soccer Club.

The Hancock County D.A.R.E./G.A.S.C. 5k run-walk is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 14 at Brandywine Park.

The course is a true cross country course that winds along the Brandywine Creek of Hancock County while encompassing the entire Soccer Complex at Brandywine Park. The course hosted the Hancock County High School Cross Country meet in 2012 and 2013 for Eastern Hancock, Mount Vernon, New Palestine and Greenfield-Central High Schools, the Hancock County Middle School Cross Country meet in 2013 and was the site of the Greenfield-Central CougarPalooza race in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Golf outing to benefit military families

Helping Hands For Freedom, a 501c3 that aids families of the fallen, wounded and deployed, is seeking foursomes and sponsors for its annual golf outing.

This year’s Tee It Up With the Heroes golf outing will be conducted July 15 at Valle Vista Golf Club in Greenwood. Foursomes are $360 and include golf with a cart, buffet dinner, unlimited drinks during golf and prizes. In addition to golf, there will be a silent auction.

The last day to register is July 3. Hole sponsors in honor of a fallen Indiana service member are available for $100. All proceeds go to benefit military families.

3rd annual Go Kart Racing Fundraiser set

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters 3rd annual Go Kart Racing Fundraiser will be conducted on July 10 at New Castle Motorsports Park.

Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m., with racing to start at 5. The cost for the event is $500 for a team of four. Pre-registration is encouraged, as the number of participants is limited.

Correction

Tuesday’s edition of the Daily Reporter had incorrect statistics for two players on page B3’s All-County softball team.

Macy Miller’s stats for 2018 were .461 BA, 19 runs, 37 RBI, 2 2B, 8 HR. Cassidy Parker’s stats were .400 BA, 24 runs, 36 RBI, 7 2B, 4 HR.
