Softball

Cougars win Classic

Greenfield-Central topped Mt. Vernon in the championship game of Saturday’s Cougar Classic 18-8.

The Cougars won their pool games 16-5 against Greensburg and 17-3 against Milan. The Marauders beat Seymour 8-3 and lost to Franklin County 6-5 in their pool games.

Royals win invitational

After losing a close 9-8 game against Wapahani, Eastern Hancock bounced back by winning Saturday’s Blackford Invitational.

The Royals bested Union County 14-4 and topped Delta 3-2 to pick up the tournament win.

Dragons roll to 3 wins

New Palestine dominated upcoming sectional opponent Connersville on Friday, winning 20-0 in five innings.

The Dragons followed that up with wins against Class 4A No. 5 Crown Point, 9-5, and Carmel, 6-0, on Saturday.

Baseball

Royals drop two

Eastern Hancock lost a pair of games in Saturday’s Mooresville Tournament, dropping their season record to 9-13.

The Royals fell to Mooresville 9-6, then lost to Valparaiso 4-0.

Tennis

Dragons earn victory

New Palestine finished the regular season with a 5-0 victory Friday against the Pendleton Heights Arabians in a Hoosier Heritage Conference match at home.

The Dragons ended the regular season with a 9-6 record and 4-3 in the HHC.

Royals finish 4th

Eastern Hancock hosted the Eastern Hancock Invitational on Saturday, finishing in fourth place.

Blue River Valley won with 35 points, Jay County had 10, Seton Catholic had nine and Eastern Hancock finished with six points.

Golf

Marauders 2nd in meet

New Castle won a close Hoosier Heritage Conference meet Saturday at Hawk’s Tail in Greenfield.

New Castle finished with a 330. Mt. Vernon was second with a 332, New Palestine finished fifth with 338 and Greenfield-Central was seventh with a 354.

Royals place 6th

Eastern Hancock finished sixth out of 10 teams in the Mid-Eastern Conference meet in Muncie on Saturday.

Monroe Central won the meet with a 346. Eastern Hancock scored 398.
