GREENFIELD — The Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen will close Monday through Wednesday for the installation of a new fire suppression hood above its industrial oven.
Normal daily operating hours, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., will continue April 26.
The soup kitchen, 202 E. Main St., received word earlier this year from the local fire marshal that a hood system was required for the group’s new commercial stove to operate safely.
The soup kitchen serves 2,800 free meals a month to area residents who need it Monday through Friday. The kitchen also provides clothing and other necessities to those in need, including sack lunches when the kitchen is closed during the weekend.
