Bring your own furniture painting class offered

FORTVILLE — Best of What’s Around, 230 S. Main St., offers a paint your own furniture class Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and again April 24 at 6:30. Register to attend for $79 at bestofwhatsaroundshop.com, and bring your pre-approved piece of furniture in for a makeover. All materials and the space to create are included. Space is limited.

Compete in parks’ social media photo contest

INDIANA — Celebrate spring and show off your photography skills by participating in the Indiana State Parks spring photo contest on social media. Prizes awarded include a $100 State Park Inns gift card for the highest vote-getter, a 2018 annual pass, an annual lake permit, and horse permits or off-road cycling permits for the top 10 runners-up. Additionally, a random drawing will be held for winners of 20 one-day passes. To participate, take photos of spring scenic beauty or spring activities in the 32 Indiana State Parks or seven State Park Inns through May 12. Post photos on the Indiana State Parks Facebook page: facebook.com/INdnrstateparksandreservoirs or on Indiana State Parks Twitter feed @INDNRstateparks or the DNR Instagram feed, @indianadnr. Tag photos with #INStateParks SpringPix, and include the location and date to help contest coordinators find them. There is no limit on the number of entries per person. Photos submitted should be taken without using filters that alter colors. Photos will be placed in albums on Facebook for two weeks of voting in late May. Epilogue Players offer summer theater camp

INDIANAPOLIS — The Epilogue Players will present its first summer theater youth camp July 23 to 28 for children in fourth through eighth grade at the theater at the Hedback Theater, 1849 N. Alabama St. Campers will be introduced to acting skills, auditioning, learning lines and blocking and working with props. The session will culminate in the performance of a one-act play, “The Adventures of Rose Red (Snow White’s Less-Famous Sister),” by Sean Abley, presented at the end of the week’s activities. Campers will gain self-confidence and improve their abilities in communications, teamwork and creativity, while making new friends.
