ARLINGTON, IN.

Carl Dean Hewitt, 75, a longtime Arlington area resident and lifelong Rush County resident, passed away January 3, 2018 at his home in Arlington. He was born August 16, 1942 in Shelbyville to the late Carl J. & Hazel (Sullivan) Hewitt.

Carl was a 1961 graduate of Manilla High School. He served in the US Army. Carl married Sheila Wooten on January 23, 1965.

He worked early in life for his parents who owned & operated Joan’s Pies. He worked for Berkemeier Farm Supply, retired after 20 years from the Rush County Highway Department and then drove a truck many years for Newton Trucking, CGS Services and Wall Trucking.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Arlington, his sons, Rex A. Hewitt of Arlington and William D. (Micki) Hewitt of Rushville, a daughter, Veronica Susie Hewitt of Shelbyville, a sister, Kay (John) Merrill of Greenfield, grandchildren, Jessica N. Aleksa, Jordan B. (Callie) Hewitt, Kyle L. Hewitt, Loggan E. Hewitt and Keaton A. Hewitt, great grandchildren, Caileah J. Aleksa, Josselynne M. Glenn and another due this March, nephews, Michael Merrill and Ryan (Kelsey) Merrill, a niece, Jennifer (Kyle) Hawley and great nieces, Addison & Kailey Merrill and great nephew, Ethan Merrill.

Services will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Aaron Marshall presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 2-6 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Military rites will be provided by the Rush County Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Posey Twp. Fire Department.
