GREENFIELD — A former mayor of Shelbyville recently was appointed to the Hancock County Tourism Commission.

Dan Theobald, who served as Shelbyville mayor in the 1990s, was appointed to the seven-member commission by Greenfield Mayor Chuck Fewell last week. Theobald has lived in the Greenfield area for about a decade, he said.

The tourism commission comprises seven volunteer members, five of whom are appointed by the Hancock County Board of Commissioners and two by the mayor. The board had been short a member for months after the resignation of member Andy Gilliland.
