James Carl Mattingly, 83, of Greenfield, passed away at home on Friday, March 3, 2017. He was born on October 14, 1933, in Indianapolis to the late Adrian Joseph and Mabel L. (Fleming) Mattingly.

Jim served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged after 8 years of service. He worked at Fort Harrison and retired in 1993 after 33 years of service.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Katrina A. (Rosenbaum) Mattingly; children, Carla (Tim) Ferner, Mark Mattingly and Lynn A. (Brian) Mattingly-Jarvis; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Glenn (Mary) Mattingly.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dencil “Buck” Mattingly; and sister, Mary “Margie” Roberts.

Visitation for Mr. Mattingly will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9, also at the funeral home. Entombment with Military Honors will be in Washington Park East Cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
