John C. Seifert, 75, of New Palestine, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born in Indianapolis on October 9, 1941, to the late Lee and Clara (Lenihan) Seifert.
He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1959. John served in the Air Force being stationed in Okinawa and Thailand during the Vietnam War. John married Darlene R. (Rekeweg) on February 4, 1967, in Greenfield.
John was an electrician working with IBEW Local 481 and UAW Local 933. He was employed with General Motors and Rolls Royce Corporation, where he retired in 2001. He was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family; especially his two granddaughters.
John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Darlene; son, Brent (Debie) Seifert; two granddaughters, Audra and Kayla; brothers, Bernard and Michael; sisters, Mary Willman and Kay Ellis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph; and sisters, Anna Breunig and Carolyn McKeeman.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 30, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 S. 600 W., New Palestine, IN 46163 with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Havel will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
