Eastern Hancock falls to Blue River Valley

One game after dropping a one-point contest to Cambridge City Lincoln, Eastern Hancock fell to Blue River Valley on Thursday 68-57.

The Royals were outscored 26-11 in the third quarter en route to the team’s fifth loss.

Bailey Allen and Kaysi Gilbert led the team with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Haley Best added eight points, while Emiley Carlton finished with seven points and 11 rebounds.

Against Cambridge City Lincoln, Carlton poured in a team-high 33 points, shooting 13 of 21 from the field at 62 percent.

Gilbert contributed six points in the loss while Carlton shot 2 of 4 from 3-point range. Peyton West chipped in six points on a perfect 3-for-3 night from the field. She led the Royals with eight rebounds and had two steals.

Carlton hauled in four rebounds and recorded three steals.

Eastern Hancock will play again Dec. 27 at Frankton.

Boys basketball

Cougars compete at South Ripley tourney

Greenfield-Central competed at the South Ripley Tournament on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, the Cougars handled South Dearborn 62-38 before falling to Jennings County 56-47 in double overtime.

Greenfield-Central advanced to the third place game against South Ripley at 6 p.m. Friday.

Jennings County and East Central made it to the championship with back-to-back wins.
