GCAT swim lessons begin next month

The Greenfield Community Aquatic Team is offering swimming lessons next month. The spring session runs from April 4 to April 21.

Lessons are 30 minutes each and will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks with six lessons overall.

The cost is $65 for group lessons with four to six swimmers or $100 for private lessons.

Available time slots include: 4 to 4:30 p.m.; 4:30 to 5 p.m.; 5 to 5:30 p.m.; or 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Online registration is open until April 1. Walk-in Registration will be held on March 23 and 24 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Greenfield-Central Aquatic Center. Registration is available online at swimgcat.com.

Royals seeking JV softball coach

Youth football league planning skills camp

The Marauder Youth Football League is offering a free spring football skills camp. The three-day camp is designed to instruct the core fundamentals in all offensive and defensive positions.

The “no contact” camp will be conducted from 2 to 4 p.m. April 3, 10 and 17. Each session will be conducted on the MYFL Fields behind Fortville Elementary School. Players need to bring cleats and mouth pieces.

Griffith-Marion tourney game rescheduled

The boys basketball teams from Griffith and Marion have agreed to play their Class 3A semistate game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lafayette Jefferson High School.

All tickets previously purchased for the game will be honored at the door.

The rescheduled game is a result of a postponement after Griffith’s team bus and another vehicle were involved in a collision on I-65 near DeMotte.

The winner of the Griffith-Marion game will advance to the Class 3A Boys Basketball State Championship to face Evansville Bosse (19-10) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Boys basketball state finals this weekend

The 106th Annual Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Boys Basketball State Finals will take place on Saturday.

Four state champions in each of the state’s four classifications will be crowned at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, beginning with the Class A state championship at 10:30 a.m.

Two sessions will be conducted with Class A and 2A in the morning and Class 3A and 4A in the evening.

Admission to each session is $15.

Session I

Class A State Championship | Bloomfield (26-3) vs. Liberty Christian (25-4), 10:30 a.m.

Class 2A State Championship | Indianapolis Howe (23-7) vs. Lapel (25-4), about 12:45 p.m.
