Lori Alexander, 54, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, in Fishers, Indiana. Lori, the third child of William and June Alexander of Carthage, Indiana, was born on Jan. 21, 1961, in Rushville, Indiana.

She grew up in Carthage, graduating from Knightstown Community High School in 1979. Lori attended Butler University as a student athlete having earned an athletic scholarship to play volleyball for the Bulldogs. She graduated from Butler with a B.S. in Business in 1983. Lori was a trailblazer of sorts, being the first female athlete from Knightstown High School to have received a college athletic scholarship.

While at Butler, Lori pledged and became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. In addition to volleyball, she also was active in a variety of other student activities at Butler and also worked part-time as an intern at KPMG (then Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co.). Upon graduation, Lori accepted a position as a sales executive for Xerox Corporation in Tampa, Florida.

Her long and successful career in sales took her not only to Florida, but also to positions in San Francisco, Phoenix, and back in Indianapolis with a variety of firms.

Lori was a lifelong member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage, Indiana. She possessed a deep well of caring and love for others. She sacrificed her own career on multiple occasions to return to Carthage to care for each of her parents during their final illnesses.

Lori’s infectious smile and her incredible sense of humor were like no other! She enjoyed her nieces and nephews immensely, and had the ability to connect with each of them in ways that made them feel special and loved.

She will be greatly missed. Her loving heart extended to all of God’s creatures, she was a compassionate lover of animals, especially her dog, Skipper.

Lori is survived by two sisters; two brothers; seven nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her siblings, and their children, include: Chris (Jo Anne) Alexander of  Castro Valley, California, Craig (Debbie) Alexander and nephews Brian and Kevin and niece Emily of Rockville, Maryland, Shari Alexander (Rich) Richey and niece Madeline and nephew Max of Zionsville, Indiana, and Anna (Brock) Avery and niece Meg and nephew Jack of Indianapolis.
