Phyllis A. Hamilton, 60, of Richmond, died unexpectedly  Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Reid Hospital. Born Dec. 16, 1954, in Marion, Indiana, to William and Martha J. Godfrey Sizemore.

She moved to this community in 1975. She later lived in Boston, Massachusetts, for nine years before returning to this area.

Phyllis was a 1973 graduate of Greenfield High School. She started working at McDonald’s in Greenfield, Indiana, in 1972, as a member of the crew and worked her way up to owner/operator of McDonald’s. Phyllis had a passion for the Ronald McDonald House and she had served as a board member in Dayton, Ohio.

She loved to travel, particularly to Aruba and the Smoky Mountains. Phyllis loved to shop and had taught her grandchildren to shop. She loved to be there for people and loved spending time with friends, family, and her pets.

She was a loving wife to her husband of 40 years, Charles “Chuck” Hamilton, to whom she was married on May 18, 1974. Phyllis was a beloved mother to her daughter, Ginny (Aaron) Matthews of Richmond and son, Jeremy (Kara) Hamilton of Richmond. She was a devoted mammaw to her grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Tessa, Allison, and Maya.

Other survivors include her mother; brothers Charles Alan Sizemore of Stephens City, Virginia, and David (Karen) Sizemore of Richmond; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; other extended family; and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation for Phyllis A. Hamilton will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Deacon Frank Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
