Patricia A. (Barrett) Dunlavy, 77, of Wilkinson, passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 18, 2015, at Golden Living (Brandywine) Nursing Home in Greenfield. She was born on July 15, 1937, in Hancock County, Ind., the daughter of Floyd and Marie (Keaton) Barrett and graduated from Pendleton High School.

Pat was a devoted farm wife and enjoyed a very active life until declining health during her retirement years. She worked in the office of the Wilkinson fertilizer plant of CFS (Custom Farm Services)/IMC (International Minerals and Chemicals)/Farm Bureau Co-op for many years. She was an active parent volunteer while her children were growing up, including Band Boosters and band camp, Girl Scout troop leader and camp director.

Pat enjoyed playing music very much. She gave piano and organ lessons to many local children and adults. She shared her love of piano playing at many area nursing homes for many years, including, Morristown, New Castle, Pendleton, and Greenfield.

She was a member of the Shirley Wilkinson United Methodist Church and previously a very active member of the Wilkinson United Methodist Church, playing the organ and piano, teaching Sunday school classes, and even organizing the food tents for two Farm Progress shows.

In later years, she enjoyed attending grandchildren’s sporting and school events.

She is survived by a daughter, Barb (Nick) Romans of Martinsville; sons, Doug Dunlavy of Wilkinson, Mike (Teri) Dunlavy of Wilkinson; three grandchildren, Ashley Romans of Lafayette, Brittany Dunlavy (Tony) Backer of Greenwood, and Justin Dunlavy of Wilkinson; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Morris) Titus of Pendleton and brother-in-law, Dan (Freda) Dunlavy of Knightstown.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, James L. Dunlavy on October 31, 2013. In addition to her parents, Floyd and Marie (Keaton) Barrett, she was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law Mildred Dunlavy.

The family would like to thank Hancock Cancer Center and Brandywine Nursing Home for their exceptional care.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Ben Dilworth officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
