William A. Krie, 68, of Evansville, passed away Thursday Nov. 7, 2013, at his home. He was born on Nov. 21, 1944, in Waterloo, IA, son of Orin S. and Orra B. (Holcomb) Krie. He served honorably with the Air Force in Vietnam. He married Barbara Hodge on July 8, 1966, in Tenn. and she survives him.
Mr. Krie worked for 29 years at Koehring Crane Co. in Waverly, Iowa, the Baptist Home in Arcadia Valley, Mo., and retired from Hancock County Senior Services in Greenfield in Dec. 2011. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed geneology, history, garage sales, reading, watching Colts football, and being with the grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Brian (Gwen) Krie of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Serena (Arlo) Swinton of Waverly, Iowa; four grandsons, Andrew Krie of Waverly, Iowa, Madison and Dayton Krie of Mt. Vernon, and Jacob Rewerts of Waverly, Iowa; two granddaughters, Alivia Krie of Mt. Vernon and Sierra Rewerts of Waverly, Iowa; and two sisters, Carol Turner of Fredonia, Kansas and Kathy Ragsdale of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No services will be held locally. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Ind. is in charge of arrangements.
