Leon Davis, 93, passed away at his home on Oct. 9, 2012. He was born Dec. 19, 1918 in Anderson to Bert and Margaret (Patterson) Davis, and was a lifelong Pendleton resident. He shared a very close relationship with his dad, and was extremely proud that his father served as the first commander of the Pendleton State Police Post.

Leon was a self taught plastics engineer. He was a 1936 graduate of Anderson High School and attended Wabash College. Later, he attended Indiana University in Indianapolis. Leon proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War Two participating in the North African campaign into Sicily.

He was a member of Pendleton First United Methodist Church; Madison Masonic Lodge #44 F. & A.M., Pendleton; Past Commander of American Legion Post #117, Pendleton; Past Commander of the Fifth District of the American Legion; Past Northern Vice Commander of the American Legion; Past Commander of 40 & 8, Anderson, where he was active in the Nurse’s Scholarship Program; Past President of the Society of Plastic Engineering; and Past President of the American Society of Engineers.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Martha (Laudig) Davis; son, Dr. Bert (Pam) Davis of Pendleton; two grandchildren, Allison Davis of Indianapolis and Leon Davis of Pendleton; brother-in-law, Dr. Larry (Sondra) Laudig of Pendleton; sister-in-law, Ann Cobey of N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Albert Davis.

Services were held 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton with Dr. Ray “Bud” Probasco officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at Lahm Chapel. Burial followed in Grove Lawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
