William “Howard” Lackey

William “Howard” Lackey, 84, of Vevay, passed away on Aug. 13, 2012. Born on May 28, 1928, in Noblesville, he was the son of Thomas Clarence and Hazel B. (Moose) Lackey.

He was married to Thelma F. True Lackey and Ruth Katherine Kelly Lackey, and both of them preceded him in death. Howard worked in assembly for G.M. for 20 years before retiring in 1993. Additionally, he worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections for over twenty years, retiring as a Captain. Howard was a member of the Fortville Nazarene Church and loved Farmall tractors and cars.

Surviving him are his children, Judy (Jim) Adams of Vevay, Debbie (Gary) Shay of Rockville, James H. (Cindy) Lackey of Green Cove Springs, Fla, and John Lackey of Long Beach, Calif; sister-in-law, Vivian Lackey of Shirley; and grandson, Gary Shay II of Rockville.

Preceding him in death were his parents; both wives; sister, Rachel Beaver; brother, Robert Lackey; and grandson, Billy Joe Shay.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Fortville. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the mortuary. Reverend George Maloyed, Jr. will be officiating and burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
