Marjorie Ilene Wampler, 88, of Greenfield, passed away on Feb. 25, 2012, at Morristown Manor. Born on June 25, 1923, in Washington, Indiana, she was the daughter of Coy Joseph and Alice Irene (Craddock) Palmer.

Marjorie graduated from St. Simon’s Catholic School in Washington, Indiana. She married Robert M. Wampler and worked as a homemaker. Prior to being a homemaker, she was employed at Western Electric in Indianapolis. Also, during WWII, she helped the war effort by preparing, building, and checking parachutes. Marjorie was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for over 50 years. She loved recalling and telling detailed stories of everyday events in our lives, plus rarely could you get her past a garage sale sign.

Surviving her are her son, Bob (Nancy) Wampler of Greenfield; daughters, Pegge Jo Althoff of Greenfield and Carol Ann Wells-Perlaky of Verona, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jessica Wells, Megan Young, Nyssa Perry, Stephanie Wells, Robert Perlaky, Tyler Wampler, Blake Wampler, Ryan Chappell, Nicholas Chappell, Tony Althoff, Shawn Althoff, and Jennifer Platts; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and siblings, Theresa O’Brien, Regina Showalter, Wilma O’Brien, Daniel Palmer, Donald Palmer, Helen (Palmer) Haskins, Thomas Palmer, and Martin Palmer.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 1, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with a rosary taking place at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
