Jack S. Clark, 91, passed away at his home in San Bernardino, Calif., on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014. Jack was born on May 27, 1923, in Greenfield, the son of Bud and Cleda Clark.

He graduated in 1941 from Greenfield High School and joined the Army Air Corps shortly thereafter. He graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1965 with a degree in Business.

He served in both WWII and the Korean War as part of the United States Air Force, retiring as Lt. Colonel in 1966 after 25 years of service. Jack was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Sicily during WW II. After his retirement from the USAF, he worked for the U.S. Dept. of Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for 22 years, retiring in 1988.

Jack was a continuous member of the American Legion Post #777, San Bernardino, Calif., for 23 years.  He enjoyed travelling and reading, as well as regular visits to family and friends in Greenfield.

Jack married Betty Roudebush of Greenfield in November of 1944. Betty preceded him in death in 2010 after 65 years together.

Children, Michael (Joan) Clark of Yucaipa, Calif., and Georgia Carter of Greenfield survive; as well as seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Jeanne (Lloyd) Gustin and Joyce Tuxhorn of Greenfield.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014,  at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Community Foundation, 312 E. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
