Surrounded by his loving family, Thomas Edward Krueger, 80, of Greenfield, went home to the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2024. Tom was born on April 22, 1943, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Edward Vernon and Lorraine Marie (Pepin) Krueger. Tom graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On June 22, 1968, he married the love of his life, Mary T. Tabaka.

Tom was a family man and a loving father. He and Mary were also adoring grandparents to their two grandchildren and were actively involved in their lives. Tom was a great follower of Jesus and a man of faith. He was a member of Greenfield Faith Church. Tom loved teaching Sunday School and read through the Bible many times, taking voluminous notes on each book he read.

Tom spent his entire career, 32 years, with JCPenney, including the last six years as a store manager in Manitowoc, WI. He twice won the prestigious Chairman’s Award, the company’s highest honor for performance excellence. He was offered early retirement which allowed he and Mary the chance to spend many winters in Florida. They also enjoyed traveling along the coast of Michigan. Tom loved to sing and was part of a barbershop choir for many years. He was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Tom loved all animals but especially his many dogs.

Tom was a tremendously loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Tom is survived by his loving wife Mary Krueger of 55 years; their son, Sean (Julie) Krueger; grandchildren, Sophia and Nathan; brothers, Jim (Kathie) Krueger and Steve (Mickey) Krueger; sister-in-law, Polly Krueger; additional sisters-in-law, Barb (Wayne) Tetzlaff and Kay (Doug) Weseman; many nieces and nephews; and many great church friends.
