The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Jan. 31

Comfort Inn

Location: 178 Martindale Drive, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC/R — three-compartment sink should not be used as hand sink, to be corrected by April 1; NC — need to provide paper towels for drying hands in food prep areas, corrected; C — need to provide health policy for food employees and review to be corrected by Feb. 2.

Carol’s Cornerstone Cafe

Location: 301 E. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C/R — outdated macaroni salad, bean salad, tartar sauce, corrected/discarded; C/R — dish machine not sanitizing properly, dirty knives stored with clean on magnetic strip, corrected; NC — need thin-tipped thermometer for thin patties, tenders, etc., to be corrected by April 1; NC — water at three-compartment sink and dish machine needs to be at least 110 degrees, corrected; NC/R — need sanitizing strips available and used, to be corrected by Feb. 8; NC — plumbing leak at three compartment sink and dish machine, to be corrected by April 1; NC/R — clean floors under equipment, dish machine, clean handles of refrigeration units, to be corrected by April 1.
