Food safety
The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.
Oct. 23
Chicago’s Pizza
Location: 5917 W. Broadway, McCordsville
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations: NC — need to have thermometers in all refrigeration units, wash cycle of dish machines needs to reach 120 degrees, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC/R — need to remove debris build-up from dish area equipment legs, bottom shelf of dish drying rack, legs of equipment tables in pizza prep area, racks holding pizza dough trays, remove debris build-up from outside spray bottle/seasoning containers in pizza prep area, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Location: 123 E. Main St., Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations: C — unmarked chemical bottle near dish machine.

Violations: C — refrigerator too warm at 50 degrees, to be corrected by Oct. 25; NC — wrap apples or provide tongs so that outsides of apples aren’t contaminated by customers, corrected.

Violations: NC/R — bakers table must be made of hard maple or equivalent closed wood grain, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC — need to install hand sink in food prep area, hot water not working at hand sink in restroom, clean food debris/grease in areas where accumulation has occurred on floor and baseboards, to be corrected by Dec. 1.
