The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 23

Frosty Boy

Location: 40 W. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need to have working containers/spray bottles labeled with common name of chemical, corrected.

Brew 52

Location: 4346 S. County Road 500W, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — no employee health policy, must review with all staff periodically, corrected; C — must date-mark when frozen product/milk removed from freezer, corrected; NC — must have and use sanitizing test strips to confirm correct concentration, to be corrected by June 10.

Round the Corner Pub

Location: 19 S. Bittner Road, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — must date-mark ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food prepared in-house and held for more than 24 hours, corrected; C/R — stored in-use dishes, equipment must be clean to sight and touch, corrected; C — equipment/utensils food contact surfaces must be clean to sight and touch, corrected; NC — must store ice scoop in a clean and protected manner, corrected; NC — silverware should be stored handle up to protect lip-contact surface from handling, corrected; NC/R — ice machine discharge must not be discharged into prep sink, to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC/R — wall and coving behind dish machine are pulling away from wall, replace/repair, to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC — clean interior and door handles of all equipment, remove food residue build-up from side of fryer, clean grates or hood cover of grill, clean floor under equipment racks, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Violations: C — potato salad needs to be date-marked if held longer than 24 hours, corrected.

May 24

Dragon Palace

Location: 413 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — rice (fried) not being held at proper temperature, corrected; NC/R — equipment non-food contact surfaces need to be clean to sight and touch, handles on cabinets, reach-in cooler prep tables by woks, door knobs, drawer handles, etc., to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC/R — removes all items not necessary to the operation of the establishment, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Wal-Mart Supercenter

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — hand washing sink in bakery/deli has food debris, corrected; NC — personal items — phone and keys must be stored in manner to prevent contamination, removed from utensils, clean and sanitizer utensils in drawer, corrected.
